I just want to share this article here, because I have interest on seeing whether artificial womb can become a solution to the demographic problem in the future.
What's interesting is that we already can achieve partial-ectogenesis (ectogenesis means birth outside of womb) for fetuses aged 22 weeks or longer, albeit with expensive equipment and treatment currently. What's exciting to see is there have been many developments in this field recently, which make it not longer a matter of how, but when will artificial be made.
In the last section of the article, the author talks about societal implications of this technology, and I want to ask what does users think about birth control in context of China. If this technology becomes widely available and mature, should China maintain their current population numbers or should lower it to a healthy population amount? Also would there be geopolitical implications for this tech, like nations aiming to increase their population by a lot, to get an edge on manpower and researcher numbers?
