Anybody got a make and model on the DF-41 TEL?
It seems to be a Wanshan truck, but I don't recognize that badge.
on the Transport erector Launchers :
8-axis TEL chassis used by the Dongfeng-41 and Dongfeng-31AG intercontinental missiles are manufactured by Taian special vehicles. From the current data, they belong to the HTF5980 series, which are divided into HTF5980A and HTF5980B.
In addition to the Dongfeng-41 and Dongfeng-31AG, the 6-axis chassis for the Dongfeng-26 missile is Taian's HTF5680.
Dongfeng 31A still uses Hanyang HY4330 trailer chassis
( use google translate).
Thanks, that was a good read. Too bad it doesn't go into the engine specs for the TEL, would you happen to know anything about that?@ZeEa5KPul There are two major manufacturers of TEL - Wanshan and Taian Special Vehicles. Wanshan is using technology acquired from Belarusian MZKT firm. (erstwhile USSR TEL giant). Tai'an is supposedly Indigenous (and technologically superior). You can read further on it from the link i clubbed along with the comment.
I'm not the least bit knowledgeable on either the Chinese language or in the skill of maneuvering within Chinese intranet. That being said... I think that the Engines of atleast one of these TELs are based on Cummins (US). I have a vague memory of reading that within the domain name itself (using Google translate to read the links). It could be Indigenous too. But personally, I think it could've been an improved version of the Cummins Engine. I don't know the exact engine type or series. The drive train technologies and the suspension of the Tai'an seems to be completely Indigenous breakthroughs though - as TELs of these specifications are very niche. Thanks, that was a good read. Too bad it doesn't go into the engine specs for the TEL, would you happen to know anything about that?
I doubt the engines for the HTF5980A would come from Daimler. China isn't as backward in ICEs as it is in turbofans, couldn't a domestic supplier like Weichai or Henan Diesel provide the engine?I checked Tai'an's webside which of course does not show any TEL, but it listed engines of other multi axle special purpose vehicles being from Daimler which is much safer source than Cummins.
Your attempts at sarcasm are thoroughly unamusing. If you think the posts are off-topic, message the mods about where discussion of TEL specs should be and have them move the posts there - I'll be happy to continue where it is on-topic. And yes, actually, I care about the make, horsepower, and displacement of the DF-41 TEL's engine. Now that you mention it, tire pressure and suspension sound like interesting topics too (I wonder if the differential has torque vectoring), as does crew reaction time.Guys get right, that TEL engine is offtopic and...Why the hell do someone cares about the displacement or HP of the diesel engine of a ICBM TEL? What about the tire pressure ?Or it is about the time of reaction at a misfortune nuclear weapons exchange? ok sarcastic mode off
