"落后就要挨打" is a bitter lesson that China learned in the past century.
Not understand their own strength and the strengths of their enemies is the main reason for what occurred in the past century. They have forgotten the wise teachings of the old.
"Ah Q 精神" is written using sarcasm to remind Chinese that the old way is not fit for the current world order.
In that case, you need to be reminded of the effort of you ancestors in bring about a harmonious world is not completely worthless. I think what is lacking is self esteem, and appreciation for true wisdom. Do you really want the Chinese to become like the others who go around the world slaughtering people and stealing their wealth ? After 1000's of years civilisation, this will be the pinnacle of their development, seriously ? This will not come to pass as the Chinese leaders are wise and guided by the principles of the old masters.
