Is it possible the "large aperture optical sensors" on the sides are actually a directed energy weapon? If I recall, that was one of the proposed features for a 6th gen plane.

Pretty sure those will need to be housed in a turret… unless they use some sort of elaborate mirror setup to redirect the beams.

The biggest reason for the H20 is to credibly threaten Pearl Harbor/San Diego, and secondarily Diego Garcia.

I'm not sure if the CPC believes that's a priority at this time, as they have repeatedly said they have no desire to challenge US global leadership
Hegemonial leadership isn't the goal of the H-20. A strategic bomber like the H-20 is for destroying or disabling the enemy's strategic-level C2, resources, military chokepoints like Diego Garcia or Midway military bases, and dual-use economic points of interests like dry docks and aircraft assembly lines. The 6th gen fighter is primarily and most likely a tactical fighter that will kill the most advanced aircraft the enemy can field, tactical level awacs, and etc. It may even have the capacity to destroy ground targets on the operational level, but not the strategic ones.

This aircraft looks as though it would have a large amount of volume for fuel storage so I wonder what its operation radius would be?

I see you already ended friendship with J-20 in favor of the new mistress;)

Turret would almost certainly compromise stealth and aerodynamic thus they might sacrifice firing angel to preserve performance in these two more important area.

Has anyone commented on how thick the fuselage is? Look at the first photo and see how much fuselage is sitting above the wing line, then look at the second photo and see how much is sitting below the wing line. Surely the weapons bay could be very deep, or it is carrying a fckton of fuel or ECM equipment or something.
