Colombia hosted the exercises "Angel of the Andes, 2015"
(Defensa.com) recovery exercises and emergency response personnel and disaster "Angel de los Andes 2015", taking place from 17 to 28 August, are led by National Personnel Recovery Center of the Colombian Air Force They develop in the Air Combat Command No. 1, located in Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca, and the Air Combat Command No. 5 in Rionegro, Antioquia.
With the participation of the Colombian Air Force, Civil Defense and countries like Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, United States, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Dominican Republic, these exercises are performed for the first time in Colombia and is expected to the contribution that can give the host country is of great importance due to the great experience in this kind of missions carried out by the FAC daily under the internal conflict in the last decades and has allowed some way, define very precise protocols that can be shared with other participating countries.
250 members of the Colombian Air Force, 61 foreign soldiers and 20 Civil Defence volunteers conducted search and rescue missions for crash recovery of a pilot ejected, humanitarian assistance and natural disaster recovery staff attack on military convoy.
