Nicaragua interested in buying T-72 Russian tanks
(Defensa.com) Nicaragua's ambassador to Russia Juan Ernesto Vasquez Araya, announced that his country was considering buying these tanks to replace the T-55. The statements have taken place and the context of participation, for the first time in Nicaragua in the biathlon tanks that began last August 1 in Russia and will run until February 15 in which thirteen countries participate in a unique competition that tests the training of crews of tanks and the qualities of their machines.
International Military Games 2015 (ARMI 2015) is as known, gather near Moscow crews of tanks from 13 countries (Angola, Armenia, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia, Nicaragua , Tajikistan and Venezuela). Participants used the chariot T-72B3 for competition and performed with the obstacle with relays, forced marches and shooting practice with live ammunition.
The ability to test this car battle by crews Nicaragua has allowed familiar with this vehicle, know their characteristics and evaluate it personally. Last year Nicaragua participated as an observer but this year received an invitation to participate. Nicaragua currently has 31 tanks T-55 in service after since the early eighties acquired several lots of these cars from diverse backgrounds and have been decommissioned.
