Oh boy, oh boy, looks like I've hit a point.

I've heard it more than once now that revolvers are actually quite accurate becuse there's little mechanic action involved while shooting, and that when you've developed a feel you can point it rather well without even looking down the sights.
I suppose it's still a one-handed technique, though?

And, shall I say rather unsuprisingly when talking to Americans ;) , always obliged to have at least some sort of .44mag or .45ACP caliber. How does the difference in recoil, compared to a 9x19, actually play out when shooting?
The footage of a big, waterholding canister being hit by such a round is ideed intriguing, though.

Actually most pistoleros use a two handed hold. I began with the weapon held rigidly out in front with an isocoles stance. I shot this way for some time but after reading and a little experimenting adopted the Chapman-Modified Weaver stance, for a right hander, the body is turned approx 30 to 45 degrees to the right, the weapon is held firmly in the right hand and extended almost fully at shoulder height. The left hand closes around the right and pulls firmly toward the body. This exerts an isometric tension, the right elbow bent about30 degrees, the left elbow also bent 60 degrees, a firm, but not a death grip on the weapon. This allows the heavier caliber handgun to raise the muzzle as it recoils, and the flexion in your elbows is able to cushion the recoil. I have used my handgun mostly for punching paper, but we also hunt for whitetail deer, much like bowhunting you must limit your range and work on your shot placement. The 45 ACP does have a little more recoil than a 9x19, but the weapon is nominally larger and heavier and soaks up much of that. Lots of 44 magnums had that cylinderfull of 44 mags and sold. I have a 4" Smith and Wesson that was so, although I enjoy shooting it, because its a Smith and lighter than say a Ruger, Dan Wesson etc, and 40 years old, I often shoot lighter loads. The Ruger I just traded for the Colt was nearly as old as I was, fairly light but strong, recoil as they say was healthy, but not to bad. We Americans are rather full of it as they say, but most of us are also proud of our Continental heritage. My last name is Maggart, my Dad always said it was Scotch, when the family historian said it was German, he about blew a cork. Looks like they were from a border region between Germany and Switzerland, but it does explain my love of finely worked metal, I have several hunting knives from the Solingen area, I would love to have an Obenedorf Mauser, just hate to sell what I would have to to get it.LOL I am afraid that Jeff Head and Bd Popeye are rubbing off on you, you might end up being as Archaic as those two LOL. As Obi Wan would say a more retched hive of scum and villany was never found, such as on Sino Defense forum.Caio

When out target shooting with my S&W .44 mag, I shoot lighter ammo...but for home protection, it's 240 gr hollow points.

No one with an iota of sanity would look a the maw on that weapon and keep coming.

My wife shoots that revolver as well...and sh'e a crack shot at 25-40 yards Regularly breaking 6" round "plates" on the 1st or 2nd shot when putting the bead on.

Anyhow, Saturday was a fairly light day for us. We cooked off only about 80 rounds of ball ammo. Sometimes we will go out, 3-5 of us with one or two more weapons and burn through 400 rounds in an afternoon.

My little woman shoot a 1951 5 screw k-22 S&W, that I am forbidden to carry to gun shows. I like to do a little gun tradin. I got it for her birthaday and she almost cried, then i had to go to JC Penneys and get her some earrings. Then I put on a set of Ajax Grips fake mother of pearl pimp grips and she loved it. By the way scratch that is another advantage the revolver has over the auto, thumb the latch open the cyclinder and drop six in, to unload thumb the latch, open the cylinder, tip the muzzle up and they fall out if unfired, smack the ejector rod if fired and they jump out. My wife just cant seem to get the auto, and on many smaller pistols the recoil spring is rather stount and it takes a firm grip to rack the slide. Jeff I really can't believe your wife shoots that 44 mag, too cool.

Hey guys, while we're armed lets go over to DT and tell those guys we heard they're canceling JSF cause it cant carry a daisy cutter. They get so upset, and don't say nuthin good about the poor old F-22, its like you're tellin em their sisters ugly!

Have you seen the "Hello Kitty" M-16? Yep, all pink and with the cat's head and all. Perhaps you should do the same for your wife...

I doubt mine would like the AR-15, but I know one of the twins would. One of the older daughters has a pink twelve guage, and the other one wanted a pink carbon Walther P22, but her husband nixed that after he read the reviews

Lightsabers, yeah no problem. Much more elegant weapon! But we are talking years of training here...;-)

LOL...imagine if a male soldier holding that weapon?! Talk about "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy.
