Lots of accounts on X saying Milei is contemplating Argentina now joining BRICS as an 'inactive' member. I suppose this would at least preserve the option of becoming more active at a later date. Not sure how good a deal this would be for BRICS, however. Probably better than Pakistan though.

Argentina is Brazil's largest trading partner in the region. Plus the left winged politicians in South America have been trying for quite some time to make an economic block. This is why associations like Mercosur exist.

They are both from the Latin Amerika region, so when in BRICS meetings they can support each other and extract better deals from other BRICS members instead of being overpowered by China and Russia. Wouldn't be surprised that Venezuela will also be invited and Brazil and Argentina as its main backers..
