Future Brazilian corvettes have names, a Brazilian Anglo-radar missiles and possibly carry Sea Ceptor CAMM

TFRMIoq.jpg

(defensa.com) The Admiralty made the proposal and the Commander of the Navy accepted the following names for a class, however continuing the Barroso called "Tamandaré" according to divulge the ALIDE forum. Initially consist of 4 units: V35 "Tamandaré" V36 "Jeronimo de Albuquerque," V37 "Moreira Cunha 'and V38' Mariz e Barros".

An important feature of this program is that it would have taken the decision to revise the previously planned use of the same shape and size of helmet Tamandaré that used in the Barroso (OPV series and potentially that could be derived from them) . Therefore quarter sleeve would be greater than the original standard used in Inhaúma 11.4m and Barroso series. This most likely is a result of the positive experience with the class OPV Amazon recently bought BAE and have 13.5 meters wide, and a helmet highly praised by the Brazilian Navy, which, however, would perhaps suffering in this model some problems with radars and even Therma Scanter 4100 combat system with Osiris. The new corvettes displace 2,480 tonnes against 2,350 Barroso.

Finally, a recent report indicating that the naval missile Sea Ceptor / CAMM, manufactured by MBDA UK beat American ESSM and decided for this new class. The radar of the new class of ships should be the same as BAE Systems Artisan 3D or a derivative thereof, assembled locally by Bradar (ex Orbisat), a subsidiary of Embraer Defense and Security. After preliminarily decided this provider, Airbus Defence and Space BRADAR made known its intention to provide alternative to Brazil its TRS-3D AESA radar, initially without much success but with possibilities of further negotiations at the last minute.

The Brazilian Army Aviation could have fixed wing aircraft from 2019, the spectrum ranges from the C-208B Grand Caravan to the C-295

(defensa.com) The next options Brazilian Army on fixed wing aircraft will go from the Grand Caravan to the Airbus Military C-295, in what would be a series of additions staggered by capacity and function. Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay in their armies have no fixed-wing aircraft, the latter two not even aviation (although until 1989 the Paraguayan Air Force was a branch of the ground force).

The Brazilian Army had extinguished his aeronautical component by 1941 to found the Air Force until 1986 concluded the capability designed to resurrect that later studies, initially with AS 365 Panther helicopters and Aeschylus, then Fennec and Sikorsky S-70, to the arrival of the first EC-725, of which 15 units are due.

Now, in the so-called Plan to Get Capabilities Materials (PCM), it is assumed that 2019 should be operating the first unit fixed wing, probably with aircraft Grand Caravan-Cessna, its local representative, TAM, used to support events and graphic editions of Army Aviation, which are the same as the FAB used today in regard to the interforce cooperation in the Amazon and the Pantanal.

Since 2013 the Land Operations Command (COTER) attempts, next to the Army, launched the idea of an Aviation own as a component of the Integrated Border Monitoring System (SISFRON).

If have leased five aircraft Bandeirante the FAB in 1999 for use by the Army, wearing mixed identifications, is the near background to the current search, the same shall in principle oriented units used by the FAB to facilitate logistics and operating costs. Having Caravan larger aircraft to facilitate the use of future aircraft from Parachute Infantry Brigade, now using FAB aircraft from Air Base Campo dos Afonsos in Rio de Janeiro, and eventually transferred to Goiás. Whatever the chosen equipment, other missions such as logistical and humanitarian, besides attention to border quotas are within the spectrum of Army Aviation Command.

Brazil's Rousseff vows to restore economic growth in 2nd term
180373cf8432161150b80f.jpg

BRASILIA - Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who kicked off a second term Thursday, vowed that restoring economic growth will be a priority of her new administration.
"Brazil is determined to resume growth," said Rousseff in her first speech to the parliament, adding that "the first steps of this journey are an overhaul of public accounts, increasing domestic savings, beefing up investments and improving productivity."

Her government, she said, would launch its third economic growth acceleration plan and a second infrastructure investment plan to boost joint public- and private-sector initiatives.
The president said she was committed to creating a more favorable environment for business by cutting red tape, promoting economic stability, prioritizing inflation control and fiscal discipline, and ultimately recovering the confidence of both labor force and business owners.

Meanwhile, Rousseff promised not to sacrifice her government's social programs to improve the economy.
"We are going to prove that you can cut spending while making social gains," she said, highlighting the importance of the programs during her first four years in office.

"In my first term, we overcame extreme poverty, but ending misery is just the beginning. We have new goals. It's time to improve what's working and do what the people expect of us," said the president.
Rousseff also promised to embark on an anti-corruption crusade in response to a multibillion-dollar graft scandal engulfing state-run oil and gas giant Petrobras.
"Petrobras is Brazil's most strategic company," she said. "We are determined to punish those responsible without weakening the firm."
She said she would promote a national pact against corruption in the political class and the private sector as well.
On external exchanges, Rousseff said her foreign policy would center on South America, particularly on strengthening relations with members of the Southern Common Market and the Union of South American Nations.
Brazil would keep on promoting ties with other Latin American and Caribbean countries as well, she added.
Strengthening South-South cooperation will also take center stage, said the president, adding that Brazil stands ready to push forward ties with countries especially in Africa, Asia and the Arab world.

Rousseff stressed the importance of the BRICS mechanism, which groups Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and vowed to work with BRICS partners to further boost cooperation in trade, science and technology, and other areas, and step up efforts for the establishment of a new development bank and a contingency reserve arrangement.
She also stressed the need to improve ties with the United States, given its political and commercial importance, as well as with the European Union and Japan.

Brazil is the world's seventh largest economy, though its economic growth has slowed down in recent years.
According to Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega, the country's economic growth rate in 2014 was expected to be a scant 0.2 percent, far below the government's initial forecast of 2.5 percent.
Rousseff was re-elected in October for another four-year term. In January 2011, she took office as the first female president in this largest South American country.

Elbit bags contract for Brazil Tracker upgrade work
By: ARIE EGOZITEL AVIV Source: Flightglobal.com 16:41 2 Jan 2015
Elbit Systems of America has been awarded a $106 million subcontract from Marsh Aviation to support the upgrade of four Grumman C-1A aircraft for the Brazilian navy.

To be performed in San Antonio, Texas at the facilities of Elbit Systems of America subsidiary M7 Aerospace, the upgrade will be conducted over a five-year period. The activity will be supervised by Brazilian navy officers who are already at the site.

The main elements of the modernisation programme include returning the stored aircraft to operational service by replacing their current engines, installing new avionics – including glass cockpit displays – introducing modern communications equipment and replacing the type's environmental control system. The aircraft also will gain an air-to-air refuelling capability.

Once upgraded, the aircraft will be re-designated as KC-2s and dedicated to carrier onboard delivery and air-to-air refuelling tasks for the Brazilian navy. The service plans to deploy the type on the aircraft carrier São Paulo.
