i remember one white Australian I spoke to years ago, likening Australia in Asia as being similar to the crusader states in the levant.

Australia shares much in common with Rhodesia and apartheid era South Africa, such as having "extraterritorial" territories where domestic law doesn't apply (bantustans) where they shove minorities.
