I'm not sure where to put this question, so here it is

Since pictures of 054B have come out, we know that it uses 100mm cannon descended from French 100mm that's later localized and modified. Previously PLAN has used the localized 100mm, but those have fallen out of favor, reportedly because of reliability issues. knowing 100mm is back, there're probably upgrades to iron out the reliability issues of the old version.

That begs the question, do older DDGs that have the older version of the localized 100mm get any upgrade to their 100mm guns?

I think the biggest concern would be whether there was any modification to the magazine and feeding mechanism that might require a more drastic overhaul that involves taking out the old gun and it's magazine.

Another concern would be weight distribution though the new gun appears lighter, the internal components might be heavier.

Then there is FCS integration. Is the new gun designed to be backwards compatible.

If the new gun was designed to be plug and play, that would be a no-brainer when the MLUs are due though the 052Cs might get the H/PJ-38 instead like the 052Ds.

A quick question about ship bow design.

I found

about the Italian PPA frigate/patrol vessel's interesting bow. It basically describes the rationale behind the design (balance between higher speed & rough sea performance).

, but only for smaller boats. The authors did mention the PPA bow design, but only in passing at the very end.

So, is this legit? and if yes, is there any interest and research from Chinese institutions on this particular bow design?

My two-bit comment:

If you hew the bow of a modern warship, e.g. Type 55, you can get the same dihedral bow. The result is a lighter bow, but is it desirable?
I think you either have to compensate for it elsewhere in the ship or, if designed from scratch, design the whole ship around a lighter bow.
Unlike a commercial transport vessel, modern warships are already slim, rendering a protruding bow unnecessary.

Can submarines be used to hunt enemy subs? Are they a better anti sub option than surface ships?

A nuclear attack submarine can travel at full speed while submerged. Much faster than most surface ships. The best counter against submarines is actually aircraft with anti-submarine capabilities.

With an naval armada building up in the Mediterranea, could it be interesting to send at least one PLAN ship to observe them in international water ?
