Does anyone have any information on the CH1000B transmission found on the VT-4? The ZTZ-99A manages a reverse speed of -30km/h with 4 reverse gears but apparently the VT-4 only has 2 reverse gears and can only reverse at -15km/h? It seems like it makes no sense that the MBT-2000 has a better transmission in comparison.

Hey there SneedSellsFeed,

keeping in mind I wasn't able to crosscheck that source, here's a figure:
(...)the maximum test speed can reach 80KM, the maximum highway speed and cross-country speed can reach 70KM and 54KM respectively, the maximum reversing speed can reach 34KM/H, and the acceleration time from 0-32KM/H is 6- 7 seconds.

Does anyone know how artillery barrel length is calculated?

For example, if it is 155mm/ 52 cal, does the calculated length (155mm*52= 8060‬mm) include the muzzle brake? Does the length include the charge chamber or only the rifled part of the barrel?

Thanks in advance

From breech to muzzle excluding the muzzle brake
In that case, does the non-NATO 52cal/25L chamber howitzers have shorter rifled barrel length?

Since the chamber has to be larger for more volume, the options are same length - larger diameter, or longer length - same diameter.

But since Req usualy states backward compatibility, then most likely route is longer length - same diameter chamber with shorter rifled barrel to get the same 52cal OAL.

On the same note, how does militaries came to conclusion which chamber volume - barrel length combo is the best? i.e. how did NATO decided on 23L - 52cal combo?

Is there a specific formula to calculate the ideal charge/barrel length for desired muzzle velocity?
