Performance that they still need to be trained for, dispite it's for display purpose only
It's training vs practice. They practice for a show.
Military "training" is a different matter.

The university military days all get actual PLA soldiers to go do 3-5 days of "training" for the students. Basically marching, standing straight and in order then finish off with gun safety and 5 shoots. It's suppose to put discipline into the kids and prepare them for militia like for people's war back in 50s. Now it's just a couple of drills and no one really take it seriously.

Maybe one can close this topic. I'm a chinese medical student and I spent two years in "Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Centre" where several universities are located. We actually had "military traning/军训" since elementary school. First time in fifth grade(6 years elementary) in a training camp(a bit like US boy scouts camp but run by reserves and education department). It last 14 days, marching, standing straight, basic sex education, fire-drill of sort. Second time in 7 grade before we begin our lives in junior high school, also 14 days.Third time in 10 grade, similar to last one but a little tougher.
Different university has different military training, time(but all in the first year) and content. My college millitary traning only last 12 days, after semester in December. We have no long-distance running, no firing practice and drillmaster allowed us to train under tree shade. But some other studernt from other school like Ji'nan University, South China Normal University, they have to conduct their training during Guangzhou's swelting summer for a month.
But there are a considerable number of universities outside the province, as I konw, Wuhan unniversity &Harbin Insitute of Technology, have fire practice and long-distance running with heavy load at night, in the wild.

OK, I did make a mistake about Ji'nan University, they have no "junxun“ at all. You see, China is just too big, it's common that different schools do it differently. But according to the ministry of education, only millitary schools do as this following curriculum requirements.
This document shows we should learn infantry tactics, combat skills, ABC(atom, bio ,chemistry) weapon protection, first-aid skills, etc in college. If one finish all those course, one may go fight against IJA during WWII, definitly better than most of KMT soldiers...MOD and MOE are aware of most colleges and universitis cut millitary courses. No action has been taken. Probably it's just imposible to make all college students finish full millitary courses.

"junxun" at uni were usually taken at a summer break, while this is a course taken during the semester...

No. They are the same thing. It's just different schools have different arrangements. My uni junxun was taken at the end of the semester, my friend in other schools did that during summer break. Those like combat skills, millitary konwdge&first-aid skills courses, they do exist, but had been reduced to several lectures and video courses...

So your uni don’t have something called “military theory” or “military practice” in the first year?

Emm, I know a lot of uni have this as a course and “junxun” at the same time (At least few years ago), including but not limited to almost all the C9 unis, a lot of the formal 985 unis, and at least some 211 unis... some uni have unit of credit for both, some has it only to the course but mot junxun.

How does the range of (rocket) artillery change depending on launcher and target altitude?
Lets use 90km bm30 and 30km 155 mm L52 as examples and with a height difference of 2000m.
