Like others have said, you'll see troopers with full armor in the border areas with a history of terrorist attacks and other said threats. Then there are the UN peacekeepers who also wears full body armor.Do any PLA troops wear anytype of armor?

Neither, it's just a tradition passed down from the 50s. Everyone is supposed to join the militia back in the day. Nowadays it's more of a rite of passage for university students. Fire a couple of live rounds, get military drills for a few hours. The whole thing lasts only 3 days if I remember correctly.I have seen tik-tok and drama series of college students doing military style bootcamps. Are these mandatory bootcamps for potential future reserve forces or just to give the kids a sense of patriotism?
depends on the school, i remember seeing a news article a few years ago about one school that went full out on training, the students went on 15k gear on runs and squad ops and jungle warfares etc.,Neither, it's just a tradition passed down from the 50s. Don't think so. The universities in China with pampered kids don't do that. Even sports universities don't do that. The only universities that may do it are military schools where all graduates end up in the military anyway. Then they get physical training like any grunt and the technical training for officers.depends on the school, i remember seeing a news article a few years ago about one school that went full out on training, the students went on 15k gear on runs and squad ops and jungle warfares etc.,

The article say it's a performance by the students.Found one for Jinan, Guiyang, and Chengdu.
I might've gotten some details mixed up, but these look a lot more rigorous and combat simulated than what most other schools have.
