China's self-developed aerosol-meteorological coupled forecasting AI model undergoes trial operation!​

According to CCTV News, in order to accurately forecast sandstorm weather events in Northwest China, the world's first aerosol-meteorological coupled forecasting artificial intelligence model has been put into trial operation. It can update sandstorm forecast products with a resolution of 5 kilometers twice a day, and more accurately forecast local sandstorm events.
Developed independently by my country, this model can provide a high-precision global environmental and meteorological forecast covering 54 key parameters for the next 5 days in less than one minute.
Dust forecasting is one of the most challenging areas of meteorological forecasting. The difficulty lies in the fact that the formation and transport of dust weather are affected by the coupling of multiple factors, and the physical properties of dust itself are complex and variable.
According to reports, aerosol-meteorological coupling refers to the technical approach of treating suspended aerosol particles (such as dust and PM2.5) in the atmosphere as a whole with meteorological elements such as temperature, wind force, and air pressure, and analyzing their interactions and synergistic changes to improve forecast accuracy.
Simply put, aerosols and meteorological conditions do not exist in isolation, but rather have a "two-way influence".
Meteorological conditions directly affect the "fate" of aerosols. For example, wind force determines the intensity of dust and other aerosols initiation and their transport distance, while humidity and precipitation affect the settling speed of aerosols.
At the same time, aerosols can also alter the meteorological environment. For example, a large number of dust particles can block solar radiation, leading to cooling near the ground.
It is understood that the aerosol-meteorological coupled forecasting artificial intelligence model can also provide optical thickness and mass concentration data of various aerosols such as dust, sulfate, and black carbon, which greatly improves the timeliness and capability of high-resolution dust weather forecasts in Northwest China.

America went all in on AGI and lost....
I see Americans constantly talking about AGI like some kind of digital god to slove all problems. But I think we need to go back to basics: what the hell is AGI, and what are its performance metrics? If we don't even understand the goal, then it's not even wrong; it's just that we haven't even started.
