There's also a mobile application. I have the app on my Chinese phone and browser on my P.C. I use DeepSeek in tandem/comparison with Claude.

yeah, if that Meta news is real, you can just imagine what's going on behind the scenes of all the other major hyperscalers at the moment who are having to decide whether or not they can release the next iteration of their model.

I don't see how you can release anything that's not an improvement over an almost free open source model.

Meta is behind other hyperscalers though since 2023.

They're so screwed if they get into a price war with Deepseek and undermine their own paid models to retain users, lol
But you got do what you gota do when desperate to placate investors flooding him with calls about Deekseek.

You know, everyone kinda made an implicit assumption that Deepseek is releasing and open-sourcing their latest models as they come out, and that they make all their money from their trading business, but how valid is that assumption?

Because if Deepseek, a private for-profit company, did not infact open-source their latest models as it comes out, and infact gives Chinese gov or corporate users confidential paid access to their actual latest models....

DeepSeek is non-profit though. It's explicitly philanthropy efforts from the founder.

Isn't the website also a distilled version? Just a fairly big distil and both the teacher and student models are both DeepSeek R1?

For Deepseek, I rush web search without using R1. My questions aren't that long, so I don't need it to think a long time. Just do a query and summarize.

Also, ByteDance has now outlined the contours of its SeedEdge research program, with the goal of achieving AGI.

So they are, but there's nothing about non-profit or philanthropy that says you donate to everyone equally, or that you lose money.

You can be fully non-profit and philanthropic by giving your most advanced model to the good guys (China) at no profit, while MIT-licensing your last gen model to destroy the bad guys (Americans)

Regarding allegations against Deepseek of training on OpenAi and whatever other stuff, do these have any merit or are people just being sour grapes? (sorry not too knowledgeable about this subject)
