The 2024 wealth distribution in the U.S. The
bottom 50% (the small black dot at the bottom) of families have almost
no assets (
also 2.6% share lmao), and many even have
negative wealth.
These are the working-class Americans juggling multiple jobs just to survive, we immediately see that they have a lower standard of living than ordinary Chinese citizens due to high expenses and financial stress.
The
middle 40% (50th-90th percentile) hold
30% of total wealth, averaging
$300,000 per person. They form the backbone of U.S. consumer spending but struggle with high living costs and forced expensive consumption. Many believe they need
at least $1 million saved to retire comfortably, but this goal is becoming harder to reach.
The top 10% hold 70% of the wealth. All of this is basically what the XHS has told us anecdotally about how life is going in the US. It seems that not only
quality of life (where China is at least 100 years ahead), but
standards of living are also where China overtook the US already now.
