AI is worthless without proper commercialization and I don't see these things as "inevitable" either. By the time American firms figure out proper uses for AI it may already lose the compute advantage to China.
UCLA’s School of Medicine has one of the highest MCAT and GPA levels out of any medical school so the entire basis of “lower admissions standards” just has no basis whatsoever /Even assuming this bad faith right-wing rage bait is accurately describing the situation - it is quite literally just a single “university”
“The focus on racial diversity has coincided with a dramatic shift in the racial and ethnic composition of the medical school, where the number of Asian matriculants fell by almost a third between 2019 and 2022, according to publicly available data. No other elite medical school in California saw a similar decline.”
Wow you're really triggered by this new article.UCLA’s School of Medicine has one of the highest MCAT and GPA levels out of any medical school so the entire basis of “lower admissions standards” just has no basis whatsoever /
Nvidia financial statements are out today and they are absolutely fabulous. Revenue up 262% and profits up 461%.
“The company saw adjusted earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter of $6.12 on revenue of $26 billion, a jump of 461% and 262%, respectively, from a year ago.”
not only that, Nvidia’s guidance was for earnings in the next quarter to be $28 billion which is an increase in revenue of 7.7% Annualized, Nvidia expects to grow its revenue by 34.5% even though it’s already absolutely massive. Incredible. Amazing.
I mean, the basis of the article was that race predominates at UCLA School of Medicine. It clearly isn’t. GPA and MCAT are the most consistent, uniform and objective measures across undergraduate medical admissions. If race predominated, UCLA’s GPA and MCAT scores would be lower (the implication of the “unqualified” students - clearly they aren’t).Wow you're really triggered by this new article.
Entrance GPA and MCAT does not predict further success in medical school. It's an entirely different curriculum and structure of teaching and material to absorb. Thua having a high entrance marks doesnt mean success in the medical school. Perhaps without affirmative action, they could have gotten even better GPA and MCAT scores.
The S&P 500 is up 11% YTD, the Nasdaq Composite is up 13.3% YTD, and the DJIA is up 3.6% YTD
Tesla stock is dropping like a stone. Simply amazing.
Even with Nvidia earnings, the entire stock market is falling and failed to be proper up by one company doing well. Incredible, amazing drop.
Like I said. GPA and MCAT doesn't guarantee success later on in med school. Perhaps if it weren't for affirmative action, the intake GPA would be higher and other factors would allow these students to do better in med school. Either way, research and ranking of the school has dropped. And unless you have insider info stating that these students are not failing their exams, and those comments quoted by the article are false, then most are inclined to believe what they wrote.I mean, the basis of the article was that race predominates at UCLA School of Medicine. And yet us GDP real growth was 1.6%, much better expectations. We can cherry pick numbers all day. Yiu lauded Nvidia with amazing stock growth, Tesla had amazing stock decline. The S&P 500 is up 11% YTD, the Nasdaq Composite is up 13.3% YTD, and the DJIA is up 3.6% YTD
If affirmative action predominated (as the article claimed), the GPA and MCAT would be lower amongst medical schools, not be one of the highest. It’s also California where affirmative action has been banned for 30+ years.Like I said. GPA and MCAT doesn't guarantee success later on in med school. I simply would not trust right-wing rage bait to report on race, and higher education in good faith. Regardless - there is a forum that predates the article by one month where medical students at UCLA blamed the botched implementation of a new curricular standard. Henceforce, why UCLA was the only school in California to experience such changes.Either way, research and ranking of the school has dropped. Nah. Nvidia is clearly the most high-profile US corporate right now, and the three broad market indices are all performing quite well. And yet us GDP real growth was 1.6%, much better expectations. Doesn't matter. When staff indicate these students are not knowledgeable and they fail exams, the results speak for themselves that they are not doing well.If affirmative action predominated (as the article claimed), the GPA and MCAT would be lower amongst medical schools, not be one of the highest. Doesn't take away from the fact that us economy missed growth in the 1st quarter even with higher indices so the US economy is not performing as well as expected.Nah. Nvidia is clearly the most high-profile US corporate right now, and the three broad market indices are all performing quite well.
If your entire basis is that “US universities are collapsing because of affirmative action” ends up turning into “a single highly selective US medical school is performing poorly due to idiosyncratic curricular changes”; that cuts into your original hypothesis - a lot.Doesn't matter. When staff indicate these students are not knowledgeable and they fail exams, the results speak for themselves that they are not doing well.
1.6% is trend-growth for the U.S. (the generally accepted estimate for non-inflationary growth is slightly sub-2%). So it fits.Doesn't take away from the fact that us economy missed growth in the 1st quarter even with higher indices so the US economy is not performing as well as expected.
Kind of like cherry picking individual data to support ones underlying hypothesis right? If your entire basis is that “US universities are collapsing because of affirmative action” ends up turning into “a single highly selective US medical school is performing poorly due to idiosyncratic curricular changes”; that cuts into your original hypothesis - a lot.
No. It's 40% below estimates.1.6% is trend-growth for the U.S. (the generally accepted estimate for non-inflationary growth is slightly sub-2%). So it fits.
