Does Arizona even have enough resources and more importantly water to run such a plant. If this cannot be solved along with having enough people to run the place in the future when the population that is inherently racist and eager to take their hatred out on the foreigners what are to work at these plants, I don’t see this being even remotely possible to be done. Heck if the USA gets wrecked by inflation and civil chaos, such a factory would be pointless and heck a money drain on TSMC that is ultimately a stupid investment from the get go

We shouldn't point it out to the westerners how the plant really isn't gonna be that 'great/important' (and the many problems its gonna face lol)
At the moment, Arizonans are fighting for the water rights of Colorado River. Not sure if they have gotten the allocation already or just didn't pay attention to water scarcity issue in Arizona.
Seems the general theme these days is that the USA has solutions…. That can only be implemented if the Chinese government had control of such a plan and only the Chinese government. In the hands of the west, it is guaranteed to not only fail, but fail epically. I am pretty certain that these neo con types are going to be the death of the usa in all honesty. The best part about all this is that you can tell the truth and they will still double down on a plan that has a high chance of destroying themselves out of sheer hatred for the truth anyone can see with ease but not complete brainwashed by there own toxic ideology

Dude, it doesn’t matter, if they are doing this for profit&politic , they wouldn’t choose Arizona or even , America.
If you are really going to move your semiconductor industry out of Chinese threat zone, what about SK/Japan? Securing your supply chain isn’t just about moving production line out of your enemies, it’s about moving everything irreplaceable out of their threat zone, in another word , Asia.
And if we are talking about business, it’s moronic to believe that these facilities would profit decently in a capitalist way, just think about what makes semiconductor industry move to Asia in the first place? For example, TSMC is mostly owned by US capital, so is their key technologies, same for SK, why didn’t they just invest in the US? And has the overall economic&political environment improved over these years?
In short, it’s purely political decision and won’t go well in the end , it would benefit intel for sure, but doesn’t really secure the semiconductor supply chain for the US, and the cost is massive, not just money
Somehow, I see the lack of planning and sheer bloody arrogance being the main reason for what is happening here. Somehow, even if the situation in australia sucks, it’s still better then being in a nation that is literally dying, I mean 3-5 years of very little rain and water supply that is close to depletion and that maybe if they invested all those trillions of dollars in to desalination plants or I do t know something that js genuinely green tech like in China with the greening projects to well help fix the current situation in the USA because right now, the USA may want a war right now, only to mask the fact that they may seriously be trying a mass extermination plan on their own people given how dumb down the people are that this supply shortage in the USA, is not going to ever recover with how the USA is trying to desperately make China and Russia the enemy in a situation where the help of both nations is the only way to save themselves from an all out collapse. Again the USA is too stupid to see reason so maybe the only one that can give these idiots a grilling in the afterlife is the lord almighty himself because there is no cure for woke
