Yes, Yes. What I meant was knowledge was cumulative, but the pace of knowledge increases with time. Major technological advancements come much faster than they used to. For example look at transportation. For almost all of human history we have used our feet or animals. Then we went to steam to internal combustion to nuclear power in under two hundred years.
If we live through the first wave, we would probably be fine because (probably) it would take them a while to find out that they lost on their homeworld. Then they would have to reeassemble and take off again which would take them hundreds of years becuase the didstance is so vast. We also would be more ready for them. And if they took off hundreds or thousands of years ago to attack Earth our capabilites would have inproved massively, so they might not be ready. Safe to say there isn't gonna be anything like Halo though.
