Yes...I know. That's why I said tis.

This administration is simply trying to get as much of its agenda accomplished as it can before it leaves office.

However, depending on the election in November, it can all be corrected.

We shall just have to wait and see how that goes...but not go into it in detail here on SD because SD is not about the politics.

Very decent 13.2 t, F/A-18E/F ~ 12 t, KA-6D 11.7 t, KA-3 13 t.
Ofc max not transferable, about 50 % depends range for the tanker ?

Remains to know how many time this S-3 can serve the first put in service in 1974...

Reitred in 2009 the more old have 35 years, less stressed as a Fighter but no completely redone as a A-10C with new wings etc...

If this eventual Tanker UAV have size of X-47B with a Max weight of 20 t, S-3 do 24 t can carry 10/11 t enough but how many in a CAW for to be efficient and reful a Sqn.

Thinking normaly planned 4 minimum by CAW same number as KA-6D, fighters needs : F/A-18E/F carry 6.3/6.8 t, F/A-18A/C 4,9 t then on average 5.5 t in this case a Tanker can refuel ~ 2 fighters x 4 : 8 fighters then idealy 5 Tanker for 10 fighters.

But it is not all F-35C have less need get an enough more big range CR 1100 km as F/A-18E/F 900, F/A-18A/C 700 but remains very interesting coz despite this it is not a very long range, as KA-6 had 1400 km ! F-14 1200 km, F-35C carry much 8.9 t more as a F-22 ! for him more Tanker required.

But logicaly in an airstrike no mixed stealth and no stealth the second highlight the first... or a refueling enough far of targets more easy to say...depends loadout mainly.

Don' t forget refueling capacity in a CAW it is " only a help" for fighters nothing to do with USAF which with her 450 big tankers can refuel easy several Sqns in a big airstrike.

And armed UCLASS planned had to be very interesting for her range CR ~ 1500 km ! with a decent payload 2 t.

I must say I miss the Tomkat, retired before her time, bad mojo!

If you ever worked on one you'd not state that...As I've stated many. many times in my years on line..

Ah yes.. fond memories of the F-14 Tomcat. Tomcats while a beautiful aircraft to observe was in my and many others opinion a maintenance nightmare. Requiring more maintenance hours per flight hour than any other Naval aircraft...

You ain't seen nuthin' like a Tomcat going fifth stage full military power during a night launch....I have many, many, many times. This does not get old.Never.

beautiful, and I'm sure the Turkey is the one lit up like a Roman Candle, not so much the F-18?? I followed the vid link to the 2004 Nellis show with the D model, Holy Cow! I will say the F-14 demo I witnessed was awe inspiring, amazing for so many reasons.
