PHILIPPINE SEA (Jan. 22, 2022) An F-35C Lightning II, assigned to the “Argonauts” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147, launches off the flight deck of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) while an F-35C Lightning II, assigned to the “Black Knights” Marine Strike Fighter Squadron (VMFA) 314, launches off the flight deck of Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Operating as part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, units assigned to Carl Vinson and Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Groups, Essex and America Amphibious Ready Groups and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, are conducting training to preserve and protect a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
