Here are three posts full of Ford Class Trials pictures. Some you have seen, others will be brand new. I thought they caught the feel of the Ford departing to sea. We will have to wait on the US Navy to gt some of the high speed and other photos of her out to sea:

Alright! We are now getting a few pics of what types of testing they are doing. They are doing approaches to the carrier from F/A-18s, they are standing watches, doing security, they are doing boat handling. Landing helos on deck, doing maneuvering and standing watch/station on the bridge.

This is just for starters...but pretty neat to see. Here's another ten photos of her out to sea:

was due to undertake testing in the spring but “technical issues” have put the date back.

The 65,000 tonne vessel had been due for initial tests early this year as revealed in the Strategic Defence and Security Review published in December.

But Ministers have now revealed that the trials have been put back until the summer – without giving a precise date.

Defence Minister Harriett Baldwin revealed tests are “expected” in the middle of the year.

It comes as Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff for Military Capability, Lt. Gen. Mark Poffley, revealed to a Lords’ committee why a new time-frame had been issued.

He said: “There have been a series of technical issues associated with bringing the vessel to the point where she can commence her sea trials.”
I had hoped we would see her to sea this Spring...but apparently not.

As usually, Harpia Publishing announces in early April its forthcoming titles for October ...

I'm sure, some might find this book an interesting read:

Carrier Aviation in the 21st Century - Aircraft carriers and their units in detail (Thomas Newdick, editor) - Coming October 2017

When is the Virkant going to sea?

I mean she was finally actually launched (or as they called it, undocked) in 2015.

she should be preparing for builders trials soon.

Anyone know?

I know they plan to try and hand her over to the Navy by 2018...but that should mean that builders trials will start this year. I am wondering when?
