Nice picture of Enterprise - and you can locate the position of her eight reactors because of the maintenance spots on her flightdeck. I think, her

Yep, I agree. All eight of those cuts with the light green squares are probably where they came out.

I also like to compare the flight decks. The new carrier has quite a bit more space...it's squared off a lot more aft. You can also clearly see the differences between four elevators and three, and the position of and size of the island.

Good stuff.

Maybe in 51 years time US Ford will be next to the next generation of carriers ! And it's sat next to one which was 50 years old so USS Ford met with carriers 100 years apart !

Well...hehehe...my kids or grandkids will have to be the ones who see that happen here on this earth.

My oldest child is 36...so she would be 86 at that date. My youngest child (a son) is 26, so he would be 76.

Now the grandkids, like my oldest who is 14, he could very well say he saw all three of them operating at sea!

For me, in 1960, though very young, I remember my Dad being upset about the scrapping of the USS Enterprise, CV-6. She had been commissioned in 1938 and fought through World War II (as did he) and was in fact the most decorated US Naval ship in history (to this day).

So for me, I was alive and aware of carriers that were commissioned from 1938 onwards I expect I will probably see three or four (maybe more) of the Nimitz class decommissioned in my lifetime.

Indeed...God willing.

I am very happy for you Asif...I remember well the birth of all five of our children, and God in Heaven has been good to us and they have all lived to maturity and been blessd with good health and good minds.

Now...I get to watch the grandkids do the same. We are now expecting our 11th grandchild!

Well, God is good brother, and my Old Testament professor would tell us that Godly men needed to have children or the un-Godly men would take over, I hope you have the same pleasure as Jeff and I have shared raising our children and seeing them grow up. A couple of our daughters do have health issues, and that is heart-breaking, but we continue to trust God and pray for his healing and health, and Asif, may God bless you and your lovely wife and children, I hope you are able to stay closer to home and be the Godly influence your son will look to for leadership!

I have missed out on my sons growing up but I know hard work now and later will be easier and at this age I can do the job maybe in 10 years I won't be able to!

Seems like we are a family type bunch lol I never used to be until I got married and had my son that's when things changed for me ! His name is Umar

And when I mean lots of kids I mean no less than 5!!!!

Now USN announced Ford homeported to Norfolk we can know all CVN homeport for 2017 for the 11 in service if Washington RCOH is performed as planned seems yes but completely sure next year only.

Then Ford in service in 2017 normaly, end 2015 : Reagan from San Diego go to Yokosuka replace Washington which go for RCOH to Newport News shipyard and Roosevelt from Norfolk go to San Diego, replace Reagan.

If 11 CVN are in service Atlantic fleet remains to 5 CVN, Pacific Fleet sure get 6 CVN whatever the number of CVN, receive a more from ATL.
Only CVN move escort ships no, Ticonderoga stay rattached directly to actual CSG and Burke to actual DDG Sqns.
