Air Division, Regiments, ... Bases, Brigades, etc

Hello All,

I was doing some reading about this unit and that unit and was curious about PLAAF and PLAN aviation units. How many aircraft would make up a Regiment or Air Division. In the US tactical squadrons within the US Navy and Marine Corps normally field between 10-12 PAA (primary aircraft authorized). The USAF on the other hand may field between 12 to 18 aircraft for most F16,A10 or F15 squadrons. What is the make up of a PLAAF Air Division and or Air Regiment?

In Chinese:

中国空军的编制是：一个空军师由三个飞行团组成，一个飞行团由三个飞行大队组成，一个飞行大队由三个飞行中队组成。中国空军一个飞行中队有三架作战飞机。这就是说中国空军一个飞行团有27——30架作战飞机，一个飞行师有战机超过80架以上。

In English it is translated as:

"PLA Air Force,
-1x Air Division is formed by 3x Regiment
-1x Air Regiment is formed by 3x Flying Squadron
-1x Flying Squadron is formed by 3x Squadron
-1x Squadron is formed by 3x fighter jets

It all adds up to 80+ aircraft."

In my opionion, it doesnt including transport, AWACs and other logistics planes.

it really depends. Each J-10 regiment is typically 28 aircraft with 24 single seaters and 4 twin seaters. Each flanker regiment typically has 24 aircraft. Back in the days of J-6 and older J-7, they used to have over 40 aircraft in some regiments. And in some cases like Su-30, we've seen regiment of under 20.

in PLANAF, regiments are a little smaller. I think some of the earlier JH-7 regiments had less than 20 aircraft.

Can some one give an update on the compositions of the Regiments? A lot of J-7s and J-8s have been replaced by J-10s and J-11s.

Note: Not every Division is updated...

Another link I found, having the orbat chart of PLA air assets and location of various AFBs, but there are no number of units, and not very updated... Some air divisions doesnt have J-10s yet...

That's why I'm asking for an update lol. Many articles on wikipedia still claim that some regiments consist entirely of J-7s and J-8s.

I looked thru web but both Chinese and English webby dont have their current inventory, just a general idea of what aircraft...

Z-8K, 77th Rgt Csar based to Nanching, rattached to 26th Division, get 12 Z-8K, 4 MI-17 and some Y-7.
