Algeria has received its third and final C28A corvette from China, which is named Ezzadjer.

The vessel was handed over to the Algerian Navy on 12 July in Shanghai, according to China’s CCTV, and arrived in Algeria on 20 August. Ezzadjer (922) made stopovers in India and Malaysia along the way, arriving in Malaysia on 25 July and spending several days in India between 2 and 5 August.

The new arrival was inspected by Deputy Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah, on 25 August.

The Ministry of Defence said Ezzadjer’s delivery comes as Algeria strengthens and modernises its naval fleet.

The first Algerian C28A corvettes were launched in August 2014 and February 2015, although actual deliveries took place much later. Adhafer (920) arrived in Algeria in November 2015 and El Fatih (921) was commissioned on 10 March this year.

People’s Daily Online said that the corvettes have set several news records in tonnage, fire and combat capability for exported Chinese military ships, reflecting the maturation of China's shipbuilding industry. “From all appearances, the successful construction of this latest frigate is only the beginning of China's expanded influence in military ship trade around the world.”

Algeria’s vessels were built by China's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

The corvettes are armed with a 76 mm main gun, FM-90N launcher for HQ-7 surface-to-air missiles and YJ-82/C-802 anti-ship missiles. Once in Algeria the vessels were to be fitted with Thales Smart-S Mk 2 radar and command, control, and communication systems. When the second vessel (921) was launched in February last year, it was fitted with two Type 730 series close-in weapon system (CIWS) turrets.

The C28A corvettes are around 120 metres long, 14.4 metres wide and have a draft of 3.87 metres. They displace about 2 880 tons fully loaded, and are powered by four MTU diesel engines, giving a top speed of 27 knots. They feature some stealth in their design, including the placement of the exhausts towards their waterline to reduce infrared signature. Crew complement is 120./

The corvettes may be equipped with Super Lynx helicopters.

Algeria recently took received its first of two Meko A200 frigates from Germany. Erradii (910) arrived in Algiers on 19 April and was commissioned into service. The second frigate (hull number 911, El Moudamir) was launched in December 2015 and will be delivered in 2017. The vessel has been seen sailing in Germany this month. The two vessels, with options for two more, were ordered in March 2012.

Russia to deliver 12 combat helicopters Mi-35M to Nigeria

Certainly Nigerians wanted more but public finances are not looking good in the African country they will be content with that lot. The Nigerian Air Force will receive power in 2017 the first copies of his order twelve gunships and Mil Mi-35 assault ordered from Russia. These devices are of course directly aimed at combating terrorism, mainly related to the risk of the notorious Islamic sect Boko Haram.

These twelve Mi-35M will strengthen the existing arsenal of combat helicopters that Nigeria has the form of a half-dozen old Mi-24 dating from the Cold War and sold second-hand good price Russia then post-Soviet.
Many observers question whether despite the natural wealth of the country, the Nigerian Air Force has not received benefits from the Russian state? Indeed very recently local journalists insisted that military budgets did not allow such a purchase.

It now seems certain that these future Nigerian Mi-35M will be delivered in a close configuration of Brazilian AH-2. Mostly they allow Nigerian special forces to have at once a means of transport and suitable assault. Two qualities that only the venerable Russian helicopter can bring. Despite its general hardiness Mi-35M has a last cry avionics and a powerful armament.
This also explains why Russia continues to sell as much.

However, note that initially the Nigerian generals relied panacher their orders with Mil Mi-28N (or NE) tech. It seems that this helicopter is out of economic significance in that country.
