Well, considering that this site is pro-China leaning (for obvious reasons) I'd say members here are of no risk of getting their accounts shut down.

Also, as far as I know the majority of the members here don't actually physically live in China, making it somewhat difficult for Chinese authorities to do something in the unlikely event that discussing unclassified Chinese military matters turns into a "matter of national security".

And huh. Both Sumdud and vincelee can't see the pic. I can see it so I'm pretty sure the URL is correct, no 403 error. As I forgot, where are you currently residing? And who can see the pic? I can see it, my internet service provider is in the US.

I have a university T3. I can't see it.

As for Chinese internet security, it's not as bad, or even effective, as some morons make it out to be. You only get arrested if you desent, which means you actively speak out against the government with an intention of social destabilization.

Can't see the picture. Can't get BBC news related webpage’s, but can get sky etc. When I ask about Mao many people say he was a great leader but not so good a manager of the country, but many people do talk very highly of him. You can buy good luck charms with his picture, and in the smaller cities many cab drivers have a little picture of him hanging from the rear-view mirror.
Like someone else said it depends who you speak to and there seems no social divide between young/old or rich/poor on their views about Mao. Most Chinese (that I have spoke to) do think the famine was one of the worst in world history, its very interesting talking to parents of friends who know about these times, a mixture of sorrow and great dreams is how I would describe it.

Can't see the picture, and I am in US.

I don't think this forum is pro-china, well at least not in a very significant way. Our administrator Dongfeng is very open mind about Taiwan independent, if my memory is correct.

I was in China from grades 1 - 3. In all my language/history classes, Mao was portrayed as a hero by the education system, and the CCP also portrays him as a hero in propaganda and stuff.

However, I think the only good thing Mao did was good leadership during war. In peacetime, his leadership sucked. I'm not a big fan of his Maoist communist ideology either.

I live in San Francisco, server in and around Pleasenton and Lodi (Wonder if a flood or mudslide will ruin my connection in this heavy rain.:coffee: )
It is a DSL (SBC) server. No sight of your picture.

Sun, as in Sun Zhong-Shan?(His name in most Western books is confusing to me...) Leader of China, yes, but never thought he'd be a candidate. This is news to me.

Strange! Now I have a 403 forbidden error too! But it was working fine previously... but anyhow, I uploaded the image to imageshack just in case you guys were interested.

googsearch6fx.jpg

It was faked by some ignorants who were bashing Google for the China case...
