Wouldn't those seeking a career in the military aim to join the officer corps? I'm not talking about officers or technical specialists: I'm talking about the regular enlisted troops that serve for 2-3 years. I am aware that after two years of service, enlisted service members can be selected for military academy or continue service as NCOs, but those would represent a small minority.
Yes, but many college students also enlist for compulsory military service and return to campus after completing their duty. Even the experience of compulsory service alone makes them more competitive when interviewing for government positions. Therefore, many college students choose to serve even if they don't aspire to become professional soldiers. What I mean is that even educated individuals in Chinese society choose to join the grassroots units of the People's Liberation Army—it's not only those from impoverished mountainous areas with relatively limited education who enlist. That's a misconception.

I notice in the aftermath of the parade that LY-1 naval laser has really caught people's attention. For lay people more than the UADFs the big laser has become the face of high tech weaponry of the parade.

It might be useful in future parades to have at least one such weapons that will really fire up the public's imagination even if it's unlikely to have major effect on the battlefield. Like say a square of robot wolves marching under their own power.

To achieve a similar effect they need to march troops with power armor.

As of now there are no longer any technological constraints preventing the 2029 or 2035 parade be made up of humanoid combat droids formations followed by large walking battle mechs and PLA troops in power armor, of course in practice we're more likely to see quadrupeds, maybe large hybrid electric ones with cannons, which would still be cool.

Funny thing is these days i was having silly thoughts about formations of chinese T-101s or whatever they will be called marching in one of these soon-to-be parades and all chanting in robotic voices something like "We serve the People. Glory to the Party." and just imagining the faces dropping on the relevant western defence circles, you know dr. Silberman style. I laugh just imagining their despair.

You joke about this but American came up with their own version first:

Disagree from what I have heard in the sub community pla personnel are loud very loud so as much as I dislike to write it its unlikely to change within few years even with 09V in service.

I would like them to recruit retired Russian officers in 100s given the 3-4 annual sub launch rate by any means just like those British Fighter pilots.
This is so laughably wrong it's actually insulting. I'm currently in China for the funeral rites of my grandfather who was a 2nd Lt. on China's first batch of Romeo-class subs and his experiences are the exact opposite. What the fuck does your "sub community" know about PLAN submarine operating procedures?
