More complicated.
The problem is that US were heavily invested into Pahlavi(they brought him to power in the first place) - and Pahlavi reign was so good, that he was overtrhown by popular uprising.
US bad blood is very much with people of Iran, not just with the clerical elites.
The average age in Iran is ~33, so most Iranians are too young to recall the Pahlavi regime, or how they suppressed domestic dissidents with US assistance.
However, they're obviously aware of the economic and proxy warfare that Washington has waged against their country for decades, which is now on the verge of intensifying into a full blown war.
So the average Iranian does not need to recall the 1970s to have reason to hate America.
Though at the same time there's also a not insignificant segment of Iranian society — usually more secular, educated and will to do Iranians, often with relatives in the West — who would love to see a secular regime replace the existing clerical regime, if for no other reason so they and their relatives can more easily study in or transact with the US.
And Santa is real. Meanwhile Israel has already killed and threatened Chinese peacekeepers in Lebanon.
That's just the Israelis being Israelis.
In 1967, they even killed 34 Americans while attacking an US Navy SIGINT vessel. You might have heard of the USS Liberty.
Threatening and harming UN peacekeepers from China is just typical Israeli behavior against UN peacekeepers in general. They don't really discriminate against UN peacekeepers on the basis of national origin.
The Israelis are an obnoxious bunch, but this shouldn't be interpreted as aggression or hostility towards China so much as the UN.
The best outcome at this stage is that the US and Israel get stuck in another drawn out decentralized conflict, but given Iran's apparent lack of competence, expectations are not high
Despite appearances, Iran actually behaves very similar to India in many ways.
Funny you say that, one reason the US continues to hate Iran is because the Iranians, in particular the IRGC Quds unit, went out of their way to train and arm Shiite insurgents battling American forces in Iraq in the 2000s.
The American national security establishment blames Iran for the death of hundreds of American service members, especially those who succumbed to EFPs that Iran supplied to Iraqi insurgents.
At that time the Iranians appeared quite competent to the Americans, and such an outlook could be revivable in a counterinsurgency environment.

FFS! What's this crap about Muslim unity again?
So let me get this straight:
Saudi Arabia? Shoots down Iranian drones and missiles. Jordan? Shoots down Iranian drones and missiles. Egypt? Shoots down Iranian drones and missiles. Syria? Literally kissed Israel’s butt while they attacked them. Israeli drones and missiles? Untouched.
What the hell is going on the Middle East? Is everybody there just Israel’s lackey?
Historically speaking, there's been more bad blood between Arabs and Persians than Arabs and Jews.
