It just arrived … but really? Still onyl a prototype? Showing no. 054 and not a production aircraft
The Su-57/T-50 that was shown at MAKS in 2011 was the 052, so this one is just two iterations later? That can't possibly be right. It must be production no 054.

There is no such thing as a "production no 054". Production aircraft thus far only have two digits.

054 is Sukhoi T-50 prototype #4 aka T-50-4.

#4 was the first prototype with all the avionics and combat systems in it I think.
I think it still uses the original non-reinforced airframe. So should have lower G-limits.

Any such ideas, China could or even would again purchase a Russian fighter and be it only for trial or as an aggressor is plain ridiculous and a desperate attempt to create or keep the impression as if Russia and the Su-57 are still in the same league. This train has left the station since long and the fact that they are only showing a T-50 - in fact IMO pure embarrassment - and not even a real Su-57 or even the prototype with AL-51F makes it quite clear that Russia has finally lost touch.

Lost of rather baseless especulations just because Russia decided to send a test frame over a production aircraft they are actually using in combat.

I agree with you.
They don't have that many serials made and are at war. And we've all seen evidence that the Su-57 is active in this war. It would be actually quite stupid if they brought a serial one to this airshow. And if PLA are not interested in buying one, why bother.

End of the day, if PLA gets some, it will be purely political considerations to help the Russians. The new geopolitical alliance between Russia and China means this could very well happen.

Also having Su-57 perform aggressor roles is not a bad idea especially if India acquires some.

Why are you continuing with this ridiculous idea? Do you think PLA is in the business of having a bunch of standalone aircraft types with unique supply chain that it has no control over?

if it’s trying to do Russia a favor, then just give Russia money. Why would it hurt its own national security in the process?

The comments had a bit too much machismo for my taste.

I’m happy for all Zhuhai attendees for getting a chance to see a Su-57, even if it is a prototype. It’s much better than simply not seeing one. Hopefully a full production version of the Su-57m can be seen at an airshow one day, and in better times.
