To me it is stunning how China, being a leader in telecoms, seems to have such poor radio equipment for the land forces. To the point I think it is being deliberately obfuscated.

PLA never tries to show it's day to day function capabilities. They show wunderwaffen to raise interest for lay citizens, deter enemies and attract customers. But they don't want enemies to know how the PLA actually would conduct operations.

Back in 2016 air show radio equipment was among the display from vehicle radio to hand held radio.including airborn, data link
