Some dudes in Soviet Union predicted Capitalism will collapse "soon" (they literally have some books about that) and we all know what happened after that. We should never be overconfident.
People running the US government are not that stupid and let the country run too wild. If you noticed, they have basically squashed protests and reign in the media the past 4 years. If you notice with the recent election... all those weirdo alt-right, qnon, white supremist groups, alt-frog etc are not longer around. Also BLM, antifa, peta etc have mostly been silent
There is some rule where people appointed during recess session don't have to be confirmed. They may use some loop hole to get the non-mainstream / non-neo-cons in.
