I was expecting different kind of western reporting on Beijing winter Olympics compared to the Tokyo games where they basically were very sympathetic to japan and praised their efforts to conduct the games under difficult circumstances.
But this is pushing it really far. The games haven't even started yet and the judgements are already made. Heck china is doing far better job in containing covid than Japan for starters. Less screw ups. Better accommodation. Better preparations. Yet they pushed the negative angle to the front. Despicable.

I guess there are At least there are interesting details in the article that I didn't know before. Looks like unvaccinated athletes can still enter but need to do 21 days quarantine. Global times article I read previouslybwasbr clear on this.

Don't be too optimistic, they will only report positively if you are:
- Owned by them, and/or
- Controlled by them, and/or
- 'Beaten' by them

Thankfully for the foreseeable future I don't see any of the above 3 happening

Team Canada has brought their Covid-19 with them to Beijing winter Olympics. How Canadian of them eh.. Also, finding out that Chinese PCR test is using a higher threshold sensitivity which raised an issue with Canadians and other western athletes due to the fact that the test may detect some lingering virus that are in the system but is no longer contagious... I don't know how they could spin that in a way to make China looks bad is quite remarkable.

I think we can expect China to do well at ski jumping and bobsleigh/luge/skeleton in the future. Also Asian nations will start becoming very competitive at snowboarding and skiing events esp Japan in freestyle snowboarding and skiing (Japan won so many skateboarding events last year in Summer). But in the foreseeable future Asian nations will still be hopeless at ice hockey.

Personally I want to participate in skiathlons lol. I'm a winter guy so summer jogging marathons are anathema to me but skiathlon is right up my slope.

Are there any presidents attending the ceremony? Or any international government officials? How much effect the Boycott had? Bc afaics there has been no anticipation on the other side of the hemisphere.
