Does anyone else beside myself think that ice dancing/skating has taken second place to the other olympic sports.

Snow sports are supposedly more luxurious and "exotic" than ice dancing/skating in China, which have been traditionally China's relative strength area. The success of the snow sports by China in this Winter Olympics and the younger generation of athletes represented by Gu Ailing and Su Yiming--both born in the '00s--have definitely attracted much more interest in the sports.

Chinese short track doesn't have the same dominance as before, think we'll see 4 - 8 years of relative weakness before next gen comes of age
Actually the men's team is doing okay. Last Olympics china only had one gold medal from short track. Coincidentally the only gold they got. Moreover They are missing han tian yu from injury and the naturalised korean dude who missed out due to temp ban from competing after switching allegiance. Quite big losses.

Just a pity Wu da jing will be quite old during the next Olympics at Italy. Well past his peak. He might retire before that.

It's the women's team that has fallen quite far from their heydays unfortunately. They had alot of legendary champions in the past.

Innocent until proven guilty. The investigation is still ongoing. There has been a lot of Western witch hunting against Russian athletes over the years. We must be wary of the evidence that has been presented so far.
I agree. But fact is she failed a dope test that is certain. It's the judgement and bashing towards 15 year old girl that you see from Westerners online that is appalling. Result of her b sample isn't even out yet. It's the same treatment for Chinese athletes. Guilty until proven innocent. This stems from constant anti china anti Russia propaganda in the West.

Some of the comments saying they should boo her. But they dun understand after hearing the cheers for her in the venue. I still laugh when I read a comment explaining it must be cuz the china organisers put as many Russians among the spectators as possible. Didn't occur to them the three Russian skaters are actually quite popular in China.
