Hong Kong athlete S Haughey got another silver in 100m women freestyle, gold to aus

This Chinese lady from Hong kong with Irish father just keeps on giving. Very proud of her. And just think the Irish tried to nap her as one of their own and she refused. Stating she will represent Hong Kong because she is born and bred Chinese.

The Republic Of Crimea (ROC) ain’t doin’ too bad!

LOL

Please. @james smith esq please use their official name at the Olympic. We don't want to legitimise the regime. Lol
Its offical title in the Olympics is Chinese Taipei, and this their flag.

It's the first time a non-European, non-American has won the event, and only the third time a non-European, non-American has medalled (second time was by Wang Shun as well)
This was Phelps and Lochte pet event. Arguably the two best swimmers ever. Wang Shun won Olympic bronze before so he isn't an unknown but this result was very surprising nevertheless. He was not expected to make the step up so I'm really happy for him. Also the Japanese swimmer Seto didn't medal. He was expected to take the crown after both Phelps and Lochte retired. Guess his extramarital scandal really screwed him up lol.

That’s amazing! Great year for Chinese swimmers. Looks like they are gonna manage fine without Sun Yang.
It's much better than expected but still Sun is a big loss. And worryingly for the men's side Xu jiayu the backstroke star didn't perform well and there is no upcoming young male talent. There is no butterfly star as li zhuhao has declined due to injuries and breaststroke is still weak as ever. We also dun have a top class male free style specialist. Wang shun is 27 and should be at his peak so it's downhill from now in couple years.

IMO China has to again rely heavily on women's team. However even so, Zhang Yufei still have her work cut out for her in the future as she has formidable opponents in canadian MacNeil and the American 18 year old young talent. The other two talent li bingjie and Wang jianjiahe faces stronger competition in Ledecky and Titmus.

It's goons be a hard slog unless we get nice surprises again.

Sun yang is arrogant and will make a big comeback. Ning Zetao should be allowed to comeback.

Good news: Badminton women singles, 2 china shuttlers won semi finals

Bad news: IOC placed them in the same bracket, so no 1-2 finals possible
They are not placed according to the brackets they were in quarter finals?

Actually, I’m making light of Russia, which is banned from competition, and competing as the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

This is their flag!

NYT propaganda to dehumanize Chinese achievements is really disgusting and borderline racism. NYT asserts Chinese govt interventions is TOO successful (e.g. sports, medals) and therefore 'China Bad!!!', while AT SAME TIME other published NYT articles assert Chinese govt interventions is authoritarian WEAKNESS (e.g. COVID response), and therefore also 'China Bad!!!.' In fascist eyes, China is just too strong and too weak at the same time.

The enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”

Just like how Nazis Fascist propaganda viewed the Jews as too strong (e.g. financial dominance in society) and too weak (e.g. genetically inferior, greed, crime) at the same time to justify their racist behavior and genocidal policies.

The far-right populists in America (i.e. Fascists) like Trump et al, view Chinese as too strong and too weak at the same time, to justify to attack and sanction China. They won't be able to do to China what they did to Jews but they will try to isolate and contain China's rise, using public opinion war and fascist propaganda like that NYT piece.
