Could someone perhaps provide the approximate number of subs that this facility can build at once?
when it is complete and we get high res photos you can count the number of rail tracks outside. each rail can accommodate 2 hulls.

Notion of my post as a whole shipyard after recent & current halls construction.

it will be insane if they can build 15-20 submarines per year simultaneously like they do for warships.

Perhaps the new hall is module fabrication rather than hull assembly? We will be able to tell if they knock down the buildings directly south of it and install rail-tracks leading to the dry dock.

Incidentally, did anyone notice where the blue launching barge went?

That sure looks like another construction hall. Looks like the other two when they didn't have their roofs. Jesus Christ China wants to build an absolutely MASSIVE submarine force.

Indeed, if there are no rails connecting this new building to the launch basin/barge, then chances are this isn't a final assembly hall but rather a fabrication hall or some other construction building.

Being careful with terms like "construction hall" is important here because there's a difference between final assembly hall and fabrication hall.

If it was just a fabrication hall, would the new building still increase hull production rate?

A nice magazine scan and nothing more.

Any properly equipped, staffed and efficiently integrated additional facility for a production line will increase the "production rate" of a production line compared to not having said additional facility.

The fact you're calling it "just a fabrication hall" and thinking in terms of whether it will "still increase hull production rate" is a bit simplistic.

Think about all of the work that goes into producing a nuclear submarine and all of the subcomponents and fabrication and assembly and movement and all of the efficiency gains that can be made with each part of the process.

Like yeah, having an additional fabrication hall that can do a huge chunk of fabrication work for the modules prior to final assembly will definitely help workflow a lot, and if all other things are kept constant it would be very logical that it can help elevate production rate further relative to not having said additional fabrication hall.

Maybe something, maybe nothing, but today's Sentinel image (overcast but shapes can be discerned) appears to show:

1. Something about 09IIIB size in the launching drydock, in the exact same place we say the first of this year's new boats;
2. Maybe a hull section going into the southern assembly hall; and
3. Work continuing on the new building (function unknown but possible module fabrication), appears to be getting roof fitted.
