According to Huitong's Chinese Military Aviation, all 9 Ka-31 ordered by China were delivered by 2011, and they numbered from S/N 28, 29, 9304, 9314, 32, 9334, 9344, 9354, 9364). So this one has to be Ka-31 #29.

Thank you Snake65 & Icloo. Initial thinking was obviously a Kamov on an amphibious ship, so a transport. But I haven't seen any Ka-29s in PLA service. This led me to the Ka-27PS, but the nose was not right. Had to be a Ka-31, but that in itself is interesting, putting an AEW&C on a LHD.

Huitong also mentions this same airframe, 29 as having been tested onboard a Type 075 in April last year, including the respective picture.

I haven't seen anything conclusive, but as you say Z-8Cs should dominate. The Marine Aviation Brigade also (I believe) has Z-9D in the attack/reconnaissance roles. We should expect Z-20s for the Tactical Lift role in the fullness of time. And of course VTOL UAVs.
