The soot doesn't fall on radar. Instead it falls on sensitive ESM equipment. I could go into a TLDR post why these particular items --- Type 726-1 and 726-2 ESM --- is essential for the workings of 726-3 ECM and the 726-4 Decoy system, and these components are essential for the ship's own survival.

The latest image of the lead ship. Scaffoldings are gone and the soot has been cleaned up.

They have painted part of the forward mast black (see circled part), likely done for cosmetic reasons to make soot buildup less obvious.

No, it appears that they didnt solve the problem, just patched up over it.

Haha theres a solution fir that which navy ships uses.
Outlines of the superstructure which is thrown into the software and that makes a blanking zone.
Blanking a zone for a radar causes it to not send in that direction, or filter out the reflection.
