I was under the impression (according to posts here) that the ship was not expected to return to its originating spot at the end of the first trial, due to difficulties in arranging the passage each time it has to go in/out.

via LKJ86 What a picture very impressive ship beautiful ship
They need to crank up this kind of ship to punch a hole in 1st island choking points like Miyako straits. In time of war they need to put boot on the ground and destroy missile site.
I underestimate the time to build a blue navy I though couple of decades should be done but anything but

Yes, exceptional speed of construction. Just needs airwings to go with it. Come on boys, crank them out!

Perhaps there is no available berth at the alternative site at the moment. Or, there was a deficiency discovered that requires the shipyard's attention.

Same here. We saw those Type 071s and Type 056s never return after they left the nest.

I noticed there is soot on the back of the mast and on the ESM fittings attached to that mast. I would think some redesign or rebuild of the funnel is in order. Pics from PDF.

That is a good catch. And that is also why we have trials in the first place. The first of a new class is always the one to beat the bugs out of..

You can see significant staining even as it was first heading out to sea.

You can design your funnel any way you want, but it isn’t going to stop staining like that when the ship is starting and testing engines while berthed.
