Thanks Tam, it looks quite impressive, does it have a name or designation yet?
According to what I picked up from social media, its "Type 383". This means it follows the Type 382 "Top Plate" which is the first array on the 075, and is the main radar on the Type 054A. Designation is not far off, suggesting its a successor to the Type 382. Both are dual sided, dual banded radars with a mechanical rotation. But the one problem with that is that the new radar does not replace the Type 382 in function, despite being similar in form. The 'Type 383' is meant to replace the Type 364 radar which acts as a surface search radar in so many PLAN ships. If you remember the Type 054A, the Type 382 is the radar that sits on the first or fore mast, while the Type 364 is the radar that sits on the second or aft mast. In the Type 075, you see this new radar on the aft mast, taking the position and function of the Type 364, so this new radar is more the Type 364's successor in function and should follow the Type 36X number line instead of the 38X. So this give me some doubt the designation is "Type 383", so we shall see if there is more follow up information to solidly confirm a new formal designation for it.
