Pardon Sir, ... but did you miss the whole story yesterday or why did you post an old Tweet?

I just found out about this this morning my time. It's not old to me because I don't do twitter. I found this in another military forum. This morning.

So I missed this yesterday.Sorry about that. We had church service yesterday morning online. Then yesterday was Easter and we ate a big meal. Are you going to ban me or something like that? Just want to know. thank you.

If I offended anyone in any way I do sincerely apologize.

There's no need to apologise and quite in return I must do so, if I offended yoy with my post ... I was only surprised that you missed it since we were discussing this mishap yesterday the whole day long.

Best and take care.

Clearly this incident will mean some delay for this first unit, but does that necessarily mean that the outfitting of the second unit will also be delayed? Or will certain teams/contractors be able to work on the second unit even as damage assessment, clean-up and repair, completion of outfitting occurs on the first unit? Probably we will just have to wait and see...

It boils down to what caused the fire. If it was because some welder practiced bad fire safety protocols, the answer is no since all they have to do is enforce stricter fire safety code. If it was an electrical fire caused by faulty wiring then they’d have to do extensive checks, which would cause delays for the second ship.

I doubt it will delay the second ship. It is too advanced in construction to make any major modifications to the design even if there was a design mistake somewhere.

Also I had not seen this article before. It is from March this year.

It claims the Type 075 will be build in numbers similar to the 071. This if true is big news I think.

This has been the plan all along. They will need a first batch of 8 type 075 ships, which are more versatile and cost effective than the type 071 ships.

Regarding the rumour that 075 will be built in numbers similar to 071 -- I do hope the PLA knows what it's doing with these large amphibious ships. The only other force that operates similarly sized vessels in similar numbers is the US Marine Corps -- and in the modern era that service has publicly struggled with the question of whether it is in fact capable of executing its core mission of conducting an opposed landing. If the answer is 'no' then a modest force of large amphibious assault ships can still be justified for other purposes, but a heavy investment in such ships would seem unwise.

A key difference in likely scenarios is that the PLAN's amphibious forces would be engaged in an opposed landing close to their homeland and will likely enjoy substantially more land based support.
