I see there is 2 lifts. One rear and one in the centre (roughly) It doesn't look that big going by the render.

My question is, I don't see evidence of a side lift so why have one in the centre?

Obviously the chinese had the US experience to inform their choice, but they have opted for this configuration. I really wonder why?

While this does not answer the question, The PLAN are not the first who has opt for this configuration. The French Mistral Class has a similar layout albeit with the center lift located after the island tower instead of before it.
The PLAN might have drawn their inspiration there.

Yes, I know the Canberra class and the spanish equivalent has this configuration too. Perhaps they do not envisage need for high intensity sorties. The lack of side lifts give a slimmer profile and perhaps that allows them to enter more ports or passage ways?

I use the following image as reference and I got for the 075 LHD 1474 pixels and for the 071 LPD 1304 pixels
1474/1304*210 m = 237.38 m, maybe someone with better tools can measure it with more accuracy.
