I probably missed an earlier discussion here but I don't get why a mid-deck elevator rather than a second side one?

I've read a few suggestions in the past, including being able to use the elevator in more difficult sea states than outboard elevators.

I personally expected 075 would have a mast with sea eagle. I will be surprised if it had a mast/array arrangement similar to 055/003.

That said I'm not sure how authoritative the details of the sketch are (island, elevator placement, exact flight deck geometry etc)

Sea Eagle might still be on top of the mast to provide a search function on the S-band frequency. The squares on the mast, which might be like that of the 055's, are likely X-band radars and won't be optimized for search, but rather, fire control to serve for defensive purposes, namely to queue HQ-10 and the 1130 CIWS which I envision to be the likely defensive armament. Most important is the smaller set of squares that indicate for me the "phase 3" of PLAN's CEC's program, which has so far only appeared in the 055 and the 002. (Also quite possibly on the Liaoning 2019 refit).

I have a memory that Blitzo is American citizen with ancestry from China.

I don't think ancestry has anything to do with what people do. Nor does it make an advantage or disadvantage in what they do (if this is the reason of your question). Only the ability in the language, knowledge of the concerned field, mastery of the concerned country's (China in this case) convention, common practice, institutional practice etc. will help. Gaining these advantage does not require any ethnical connections, but the will and attitude to study.
