Oh I think HQ-10 won't be too unrealistic -- they're being put on the varyag and the 056 corvettes after all.

But from the pictures it looks like 999 is the same as 998 so I suppose the PLAN believes 4 AK-630 is enough.

You're right...my intial post here pointed to the decoy rocket launchers on the port and starboard bow and mistakenly called them FL-3000N...but that was wrong.

Clearly, they are arming the new LPD with the FL-3000N.

Those are decoy/rocket launchers -- they are present on the 998 as well in the same position.

Sure enough...I see them now on the older LPD and that is simply my bad. Thanks. I'll delete the other post...but they should be armed with them. The San Antonio Class has the RAM, these should have (IMHO) the FL-3000N.

most recent photo of 999. I haven't really spotted anything new to report on it. I've read some speculations that HQ-10 is supposed to appear on this thing, but have seen no sign of it thus far.

They should put it on it...but my own speculation was just wrong. It's not there. It would be nice, especially since there is potentially a small, self-contained version available.

there's a rumor they are building that next.

Not sure how reliable it is. Probably will only know for sure when pictures surface.

some of the recent photos of the new Type 071 LPD. It does look like quite a bit of outfitting have been done since our last set of photos in early December.

these new photos just from chinese forum,show that suspected 3nd 071 LPD ship hull being built in ShangHai, maybe HD shipyard.

Nice, and about time too.

If they keep pumping out 071s like this every year by mid to late this decade they'll have the 3rd or maybe even 2nd greatest amphibious sealifting capability on the planet espicially if they decide to set up a second shipyard to build two simultaneously. Hopefully they can be pumped out en masse on the same scale as 054As in the not too distant future.
