Well if you're comparing every little cosmetic detail, there will be differences but when looking at general length and displacement, they are similar.

Pattani has a 051B (Luhai) class like superstructure, and 056 has 054 class like superstructure. otherwise, it's very similar. Essentially they are mini-versions of full sized PLAN ships.

Looks like no torpedo or missile tubes for the rear side openings as depicted in some earlier renderings? The mini hangar looks interesting with two openings instead of one.

The ASM tubes are located at the middle of the ship just like most other PLAN ships. Same can be said to the torpedos. Some on Chinese forum claim those two small hangers are for UAVs. they may look small (they are when compared normal hangers). But when you look at the HQ10 on the top, you will see they are about the same height and at least 50% wider. Considering how big is HQ10, they are certainly big enough for UAVs.

There's also a rumour the next batch will be 056As which should have full size hangers for Z9 sized helicopter (well, no one thinks this ship can carry anything larger than Z9 really). However, 056A won't be the replacement for the current 056. It will be on the other hand just a different version for different use and work together with UAV equipped 056. I think if it's true, budget and shortage of well trained pilots must played a big part.

although the deck looks like it can take a Z9 those hangers are clearly not large enough for Z9, infact does China even have enough helos for Type 056, by the looks of it even Type 054A has to struggle to get helos

what a stunning corvette this is, really looks very nice, very modern design and nice hull shape, i just hope the bridge doesnt sit low, all Chinese ships apart from Type 052C have extremely low bridges, which is not good for situtational awareness and visibility and also doesnt look attractive, but then maybe having a low bridge means more stealth either way a top class vessal and i like it
