056 class FFL/corvette

Unless the public info is well behind, it's apparent that we are approaching a hiatus if not cessation of 056 production. In the last 12 months only 3 ships have been launched which is less than half the rate of preceding years. At the current rate of induction, all known 056s (43) should be in service by end 2018, potentially marking end of production for the type.

This could be the replacement. Apparently the PLAN is interested in the design, according to the shipbuilder.

We've seen this design before. This is basically a watered-down 054A with two hangars. Also the placement of the CIWS and FCRs leaves something to be desired; the CIWS should trade places with the chaff/decoy launchers and the FCRs should be placed on top of the bridge or on the mast, or even consolidated into a single 1130 on top of the current platform housing the CIWS FCR. This thing would probably be great for ASW work but would be significantly more expensive than a 056A; I'm also not sure the stern could accommodate a VDS. I'm having trouble seeing where this ship in its current state would fit into the current PLAN fleet structure. Now if they doubled the VLS (and used UVLS) and also added a 4-panel X-band AESA, this thing would make a pretty sweet 054B. They could do away with the missile/gun FCRs and the VSR on the mast.

Mass weddings are pretty common in China because the work place pays for the wedding. That's why you normally see soldiers and police in mass weddings and not normal individuals. It is kind of like a perk, since weddings are expensive business.

So even if a lot of people are not fond of them, they might not have the money on a soldier's pay.

NIce pics. This is the type of testing the PLAN is conducting to ensure that their systems wrok as advertised and will be available and dependable when the time comes.

Expensive...but necessary.
