Most likely protected caps. If an adversary can see the color of the missile covers, they(ships crew) can see the enemy as well.

Very nice looking ships and looks like there will be close to a dozen launched by end of 2012

Unlikely, both WC and HP are now prioritized CMS cutters ahead of 056 production, I don't think we'll see more than two new launches in the next two months.
