I believe they are working on a quad pack mid-range SAM that the rumor mill has dubbed 555. It will be equivalent to US RIM-ESSM (seasparrow).

This missile will fit the U-VLS and thus filled the role of mid-range SAM for the DDGs and maybe the new FFG 05X.

There have been some mid-range SAM that have been appeared in Chinese military expo shows that makes me believe a 555 missile isn't far off in the future.

I believe there's another one called the SD-30.

I did a quick visualization of the Dual and Quad pack on the UVLS. it seem that even HHQ-16 would fit, since it has 0.34m in diameter

The middle one might be able to be used for anti-submarine missiles with 324mm torpedoes.

I tried further with 3x3. UVLS is actually large enough for 3x3 HQ-10 (127mm diameter), but I'm not sure if it's useful to have so many short range SAM.
2x2 still seem to be useful though, you can have the 340mm HQ-16 or the 324mm torpedoes

I made an 8 units in one silo（3x3-1， Discharge tube in the middle) model some years ago on CDJBY，but it seems too small to have enough range that need vertical launching.

I wonder is it possible to stack missiles in a layout like metal storm. Of course the exhaust is more problematic in case of missile both in venting and protecting lower missile form it.

No.9 and No.10 Type-055s are auctioning for some subsystem, probably countermeasure related.
