These commemorative covers for the service of PLANS Anshan were released only 100 copies. And this one was covered the post mark of Anshan city, and the date was Nov. 11, 2021, just the day when she commissioned.

Is the 2nd batch of 8 confirmed yet? Any modules spotted or other signs like that? Are they confirmed to be an improved variant?
I'm hoping to see railguns and lasers on this one, but maybe they'll just prepare it by adding IEPS and not install them at first? And yes, fixing the VLS count at least to 128 as well, since the original 112 was too low for the displacement and size of this ship IMO. If they have to lengthen it marginally to fit them like the 052DG then so be it.

?? When you think about the volume of those cells, 112 is an enormous number.

Electrical power intensive weapons won't be installed until they are comfortable with IEPS.

I suspect integrated electric propulsion will warrant an entirely new class of ships, and not just an evolutionary growth of 055. I also think rail guns and directed energy weapons will remain experimental for at least another decade. So small evolutionary improvements to 055 will probably remain competitive for quite a long time. So production run of 055 will eventually amount to more than just one additional batch of 8 ships.

KDX-III and Ticos which are thousands of tons less displacement have that many. There's 0 excuse for 055 to be under-armed in missiles. I still remember on 2017 launch day when people were surprised that it wasn't 128.

It’s not a dick wagging contest. Stealthier, better radar, better missiles, better range of suitable mission specific missiles, and better integration is worth a lot more than having a handful more VLS cells. An ostentatious determination to one up everyone else by some metric that is secondary to true combat effectiveness actually bespeaks of corrupt politically driven unprofessionalism.

VLS size of KDX-III and Tico (MK-41) is significantly smaller than Chinese UVLS, from my memory is MK-41 is about 61 cm width and UVLS is about 85 cm. So Chinese UVLS have ample room to have future bigger missiles. But I think 055 can fit 128 Chinese UVLS

Thats why US navy developed MK-57 which has 71 cm width
