Looking back at his tweets when it comes to Chinese ships, yup, he’s biased as hell. Especially the tweet on the Type 022, and him also retweeting that twitter user that falsely claims a sat photo showing damage on the Shandong, when it’s actually a group of people cleaning the deck.

He's a complete idiot. Hot and cold launch is possible on a VLS using the CCL system. CCL (Concentric Canister Launcher) patents post date hot launch VLS by over a decade.
Mk. 41 VLS, with its hot launch system, entered service in 1986. This should mean its patents and development took place already many years before.
Descriptions of CCL VLS, along with tests and patents applied, only appeared in the late '90s.
CCL is also used in the UKSK VLS used by the latest Russian ships, such as for the firing of Kalibr and Oniks missiles, and the Mk. 57 VLS used in the Zumwalt.
He is indeed incorrect and I've corrected him in a reply that someone else tagged me in.
However the Mk-57 VLS doesn't use CCL -- the Mk-57 uses a venting system, but there are two vents are on the "sides" of each Mk-57 4 cell module, rather than having a single large vent in the middle of an 8 cell module like on Mk-41, SYLVER or H/AJK-16.
